What are the requirements for getting on the Oregon State Registry?
Requirements for Oregon State Registry (THW)
A Doula is a birth companion who provides personal, nonmedical support to women and families throughout a woman's pregnancy, childbirth, and post-partum experience. (From original version of the THW rules, 410-180-0300).
Birth Doula Certification Requirements
Complete an approved training program; or
Provide documentation that you have completed all birth doula training requirements listed in OAR 410-180-0375 and
Meet the cultural competency course requirements through an approved training program for doulas. Complete the THW Oral Health for Doula Training Program.
Application and Certification
Traditional Health Work Certification and Renewal Application *Regarding recertification, for renewal purposes, we require applicants to apply within 60-90 days prior to their expiration date.
State Certification as Doula
Once you are certified with the Oregon Health Authority, they will add you to the state registry. The registry is a reliable, trusted source for finding a traditional health worker in Oregon.
